French Leclercs in modern tri-colour scheme

I wanted to try my hand at the modern French tri-colour cammo scheme.  This is Vallejo German Cammo Bright Green with Tamiya NATO Brown and NATO Black over sprayed and dry-brushed Vallejo Iraqi Sand.  I quite like the effect, although I think the green should be a brighter leaf green and the brown should be more orange, but overall quite pleased with the result.  I'll need to think again if I go up to a full armoured regiment worth.  I do like the models from Heroics and Ros, considering they represent the most expensive MBT built to date, they feel suitably chunky.

A company of four.
 A single platoon stand.

Thanks for looking.

  1. Wow! I thought I was doing well averaging 10 stands a week this month. Are you going for a full division?

    Keep up the good work

  2. Thanks Richard. I've had quite a bit of time off with my eye troubles, so have had chance to get a few things done.

Yes, I'm going for the full division, two armoured regiments (done), two mechanised regiments and a VAB infantry regiment, plus supports. The 1980's French armoured divisions are really like reinforced brigade battlegroups and I plan to use one at the mega-game at the Broughton Club in September.

  3. Andy,
They look great, really enjoying following your progress with this project. Although if you carry on at this rate it will be done next week!

  4. Cheers Richard. I've got enough models for a mechanised regiment, which I'll be working on at the weekend - I'm planning to give them an outing in a couple of weeks against Ian. Then I'm going to get moving on some bits and bobs for Andreivia so I'm ready for April. In the meanwhile, I'll have to order a few more AMX-10s and Mainforce infantry for the second mechanised regiment and things like engineers. May try to slip over to York and visit VAPNARTAK to pick up a few things.

    Cheers

  5. Leclercs might be useful in a future 'Dragon Strike' game I am planning possibly as the 2015 CWC CP6 event if I can get enough interest. Make a change from Cold War and will give everyone a chance to use a bit of their more modern kit whilst still be able to use cold war equipment with it being in Asia 2001.

    Cheers
