20mm Britannia Mastiff vehicle

At the end of November, Will kindly picked up a small order from Britannia for me at the Leeds show.  The order comprised an additional Viking apc to give me enough to mobilise a platoon, another SAS fireteam, some assorted Taliban HMGs to mount on technicals, and a Mastiff vehicle plus crew.  I intend to use the Mastiff as a bomb disposal vehicle, similar to the one used in Bluestone 42 (link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluestone_42 ).

I painted this one the same as my other British vehicles for Afghanistan.  Light grey undercoat, Iraqi sand basecoat, NATO black tyres dry brushed basalt grey, azure windows dry brushed white, all washed with Army Painter strong tone ink mixed with matt varnish.  Crew are painted as per previous posts.

Detail of the crew.

The front of the vehicle with un-bogging bars.

Still a few air bubbles require attention, but now I have some Milliput they will be dealt with.

As ever, thanks for looking

  2. Hi Andy,
Looking good, are these going to make an appearance in March? Judging by the way the Matrix Game is heading :-)

  3. Thanks Richard. They certainly could if it works out that way. I've got enough figures for a couple of platoons with transports in Warriors, Vikings or Landrovers. Depends if Britain/NATO decide to come to the aid of their Turkish brothers. Should have a platoon of US Marines in AAVP7s ready by then as well.

  4. What AAVP7 are you using? Need some LVTP7 for my Italians but nobody seems to do 20mm scale.

  5. Hi Richard,

I have 2, I think both by DeAgostini. I picked them up on e-bay. They aren't common, but do come up occasionally, there's currently one DeAgostini and one Dragon version up for sale, the Dragons seem to be more expensive though. Thankfully, two is enough to carry a platoon, so it's worth playing the waiting game for them to come up at prices you are comfortable with. I search "1/72 diecast AAVP7" and it seems to list them, plus if there are any in bundles, they show up under related items.

    Good luck, Andy
