20mm Caesar Late WW1 Germans

Here are some more of the Caesar late WW1 German figures.  The riflemen at the back and the officer I've posted before, but thought they were a bit dark, so I've added some more painted in a lighter grey green and field grey mix, which I think looks a lot better.  I might try a couple of figures with the multi-colour patterned helmets, but that does restrict them to the last couple of months of the war and post-war Freikorps, etc.

One of the figure poses in more detail showing front and back views.

Darker finish on the figure on the left, lighter on the right.

Same figure pair, rear view.

They all work, but I'm much happier with the lighter finish, albeit it's a subtle difference.  I have another box and a half of these to finish off now.

Here's to a very Happy New Year and all the very best for 2017.  As ever, thanks for looking.

  1. Andy,

I hope you and yours are having a wonderful holiday season. I see you've been quite busy; sorry I haven't commented much, WWI isn't really my thing. I look forward to your return to more modern times ;)

Though I will absolutely read any WWI batreps you post! Take care Andy!

    V/R,
    Jack

    1. Thanks Jack. Good to hear from you. Happy New Year to you and the family, hope 2017 is kind to you all.

Yes, WW1 and the RCW seem to have really grabbed my attention this last 6 months or so. A fascinating time with changing allegiances as the old order of imperial super powers toppled and the world lurched towards the modern era - what's not to like? In some ways, it feels a lot like modern gaming. Plus the troops are buttons to buy in plastic and really well represented.

We've played out a couple of games trying out WW2 Chain of Command for WW1, which is well worth a go if you get the chance - there are rumours of a modern version too, so worth looking out for. I've not had the chance to play 5Core recently as my regular opponent hasn't been gaming for a while (real life getting in the way). Hope you're still managing to get some games in!

      Cheers, Andy

  2. I think your figures always look too dark in the photos here, Andy. However, in real life they're really nice! It's a shame blog readers aren't seeing them at their best.

    Happy New Year!

    1. Thank Richard. I'm going to try to get some better lighting for the photos - experimenting with using white sheets as reflectors to try and reduce the dark shadows, but also looking at a small light box, which ought to help.

      Cheers, Andy
