Ready to Roll 21st Panzer vehicles suitable for the battle of Normandy, especially early German attempts to nip out the British landings on Sword Beach. All are painted in Vallejo middlestone with a little Iraqi sand, with stripes of WW2 German field grey and a little refractive green alternating with stripes of armour brown with WW2 German camo mid-brown. All washed with Agrax Earthshade and dry brushed with Iraqi sand. Decals are from Skytrex.
A Somua Pioneer half track with light bridge mounted.
Still to come for 21st Panzer are more SPW P107 half track infantry carriers, commanders vehicle with PAK 36 and 20mm AA variant and longer term there are plans for more of Becker's "funnies" including the unarmoured half tracks, and multi-barreled mortars and rocket launchers.
Thanks for looking.
Turning out nicely
ReplyDeleteThanks Will, more to come.

Very nice Mr C.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mr P.
DeleteThose look great, Andy, and my hat's off to you for going after all that specialized gear, super cool.

Cheers Jack, those 21st Panzer engagements in the afternoon of D-day always intrigue me. It was the one opportunity where Rommel's strategic plan might have enjoyed better success and might have succeeded in pinching out Sword Beach and the Airborne flank - one of the crucial points in the war. Plus the vehicles and 21st Panzer troopers look cool - as do British 3rd Division.

I agree wholeheartedly, I'm just going to cheat with Panzer IVs, Stug IIIs, and regular halftracks, rather than all the captured and modified French gear ;)
DeleteVery impressive kit, and you did a great job on it!

Sounds good. I initially did 21st Panzer in 6mm using Ian Armstrong models now available from Heroics and Ros. Although they look great, it just didn't do it for me, so next stop 20mm. I kid myself that I can use the Lorraine SPGs in the desert too, but probably won't. Pz IVs are fine for 21st Panzer as all the Somuas had been reallocated by D-day in preparation for issue of Panthers.
